"Sofi & Margosha: Starlight Whispers" — a children's book

"Sofi & Margosha: Starlight Whispers" — a children's book I just finished and self-published.
This one is personal. It started with my daughter Sofia and her owl plush, Margosha, who's been by her side since she was little. They became the two leads — a girl named Sofi who finds a small, frightened owlet by her window on a rainy night, warms it, and gains a friend for life. I finished it just in time for Sofia's 11th birthday and dedicated it to her. 🦉
Since this is ArtStation, a few words on the craft.
All illustrations were generated in ComfyUI using the open-source Qwen Image model (tagging the project accordingly). I went open-source on purpose — more control, full local/offline runs, and a real chance to understand the pipeline instead of pressing a button.
And there is no button. Most of the year went into the parts that don't generate themselves: holding character consistency across every scene, fixing mutations and hallucinations, building palettes and compositions that keep a soft bedtime mood, and pushing each frame until it felt emotionally true. My background in computer graphics carried a lot of this.
What I was chasing visually: warm, gentle light, a cohesive storybook palette, and faces that read as tender rather than uncanny — that last part was the hardest.
More to come. I've got a lot of ideas I can't wait to start on.
